Grass-fed tallow is made by harvesting and rendering suet, the fat from pasture-raised cattle. A byproduct of the cow, tallow is collected and used for cooking purposes and other skincare products. Once rendered to a pure state, tallow offers an impressive profile of fatty acids in a similar structure to the cell membranes and proportions of human skin, making it easily absorbable. Fatty acids are considered the building blocks of skin cells, which makes them an important component for skin repair and regeneration. Tallow also supports hormonal health and fertility.

“Krowa” (pronounced kro-vah) is derived from the Polish word for cow or bull. The cow is a respected source of life and we celebrate, honor, and admire these animals to the highest regard.

While we source our animal byproducts both domestically and from New Zealand, our essential oils are sourced from vetted distilleries around the world. We proudly receive these ingredients in Houston, Texas, where we produce one small-batch at a time.

We want all of our customers to be satisfied with their purchases. If you have questions or concerns, please reach out to us at glow@krowa.com.

Skin

Yes! Our nature-made formulas are suitable for all skin types: healthy, sensitive, normal, dry, oily or combination, and are fortified for all weather conditions.

Our products are non-comedogenic, and the moisturizing properties in tallow resemble natural sebum, which absorbs easily into the skin and can help regulate sebum production. Though acne is a multifactorial disease that can be caused by a number of lifestyle factors, when it is caused by overly active sebaceous glands, tallow can bring balance to your skin and calm the inflammation, without clogging your pores or further skin irritation.

Our ancestors have long used tallow for its healing and nutritive qualities. Our tallow is very gentle and nourishing even for the most sensitive skin.

Our skin is an ecosystem of millions of bacteria, which is known as our microbiome or microbiota. The microbiome is in charge of keeping us feeling and looking good by creating a healthy skin barrier. Our microbiome can get out of balance when we use unnatural products, cosmetics, and soaps that destroy the good bacteria with chemicals, alcohol, and synthetic fragrances. This can cause acne and a host of other skin problems. To build back up a balanced microbiome on your skin, be mindful of what your skin absorbs, be conscious of your diet, and become aware of the thoughts you think about yourself. They all work synergistically to create the balanced and beautiful being that is you.

Tallow is easily absorbed without suffocating the skin’s barrier. It is deeply nourishing on a cellular level and won’t clog your pores. All that’s to say is it doesn’t leave a greasy feeling… simply a radiant hydrating glow.

We do recommend using a little less at a time of our face products, however. A little goes a long, long way!

Products

We suggest storing in a cool, dry place and out of direct sunlight. Try to avoid letting any moisture in, as there are no additives in our products. As a way to keep your product fresh, we gift you a spatula with each purchase.

Sure! If you prefer a denser texture and a cooling feel upon application, refrigerating your tallow is always an option!

Yes, tallow does have a melting point. We advise customers to wrap their product when traveling to avoid any mess, as well as always storing it in a cool place. As a way to protect your product and any surrounding contents, we include a cotton bag with each purchase to capture any potential leakage.

Never leave your tallow in the sun or in a hot car!

Like any natural product, using the tallow balm as fresh as possible is best. We suggest using within 1 year from the date of purchase.

HARD NO! In fact, we do not use any oils other than pure essential oils to add a hint of natural scent. We never introduce any “filler” oils of any type. Oftentimes cosmetics have added oils we call “filler”… as not all oils are created equal. Coconut oil can be comedogenic, and often, olive oil used in beauty products is of very low-quality. These refined oils are extracted using high heat, affecting the nutritional properties and are subject to rancidity and oxidation. We value clean and pure ingredients that are safe enough to eat. Our ingredients are the way nature intended...and we hold our products to the highest quality standards, always.

We want your product to last, so we provide you with a bamboo spatula that you can use to scoop out your desired amount. This will lessen the likelihood of bacteria being introduced to your product, keeping it fresher, longer.

No! We like to keep all of the nutrients in tact, so we don't aerate or whip our products. This gives you more bang for your buck...more tallow per ounce with each purchase. It's denser tallow experience we take great pride in!
